THE EPITOME OF LOVE

As soon as I saw Jayda, it was all over. A little boxer/Australian shepherd mix, she was probably about ten pounds and all ears. My wife Ashley met her when she was a little over two years old, and I like to say that she fell in love with her before she fell in love with me.

She is our fur kid, our little daughter and she just turned ten. She’s one of the loves of my life, all about adventure and playtime. Outside of me and Ashley, the thing she loves most is her ball. She can go play ball all day long. It’s the best feeling ever when we get home after a long day and hear her excitement on the other side of the door. She first freaks out when we get home, shaking with excitement and anticipating that we are going to go play ball the moment we walk in. She lets us get settled, pass kisses and scratches, and then we grab the ball and it's game time.

For me, this is a special time that we have together. I grew up with dogs and cats, but Jayda was the first pet that I trained on my own. I taught her how to play ball when she was young, and it has been her favorite thing ever since. It was a time of bonding from the beginning, and we have carried it on for ten years.

To me, what Jayda expresses to us every day is the epitome of love. Coming home to see her is what we look forward to. Whatever happened that day, it all fades away in that moment. She is my sidekick, my little shadow. She wants to go wherever I want to go and is constantly looking out for me. Outside of Ashley, she is my best friend.
