JOY AND LAUGHTER TO THE POINT OF TEARS

Five years ago, Harley was this tiny yet very naughty puppy running out of control in the administration offices of our animal center. I thought "This little hot mess of a dog is going to be a handful, and boy do I feel sorry for the people who adopt him". However, Harley needed to be fostered for a few days, so I volunteered. I wasn't looking for a dog just yet because we had just lost two dogs to old age and when the time was right we would want a big dog.

However, Harley knew he was going to wiggle his way into our hearts one way or another. Within seconds of bringing him home he crawled into Gary's arms, sat on his chest and licked his nose. From that moment on they were attached at the hip!

Each morning our organic alarm clock wiggles and bounces all over the bed until we are laughing so hard and realize the only way to get him to stop is to vacate the bed. He then smiles up at us with a look that translates “Wow that was fun!” Then while we're busy making coffee, he sneaks back to bed.

Harley’s favorite activity is chasing frisbee. Our favorite activity is throwing the frisbee. The minute we pop the tops off two beers, he knows it's frisbee time on the patio. He is only a foot tall but jumps three feet straight up when the frisbee gets lodged into the raised garden beds. Harley is also a great conversationalist. He will sit on Gary's lap, look straight into his eyes and wiggle his tail while Gary tells him a story.

Every day Harley brings us joy and laughter to the point of tears. No vacation is without him, no evening drinks on the patio are without him, no rides on our Harley motorcycles are without him. He is the love of our lives and a gift we continue to cherish.
